ON THE THRESHOLD OF HEAVEN

The search for paradise is perhaps one of the most elusive and yet poetically beautiful of human expressions. It describes our desire to transcend the earthly, to reach a sublime and exalted state, to sense an inextricable connectedness with creation, and to touch the face of God. Literature, poetry, art, music, philosophy and, most recently, neuroscience have all eloquently articulated this universal human yearning to connect with the divine.

You will be swept away by the astonishingly spiritually and emotionally charged music of Polish composer Pawel Lukaszewski, the sublimity of Samuel Barber’s writing, the exquisitely impressionistic mysticism of Pierre Villette, and the universality of faith found in the 12th century Codex Calixtinus. Through the inspired works of such composers, perhaps we too can capture a glimpse of paradise.

(Note: If you are in Abbostford you may want to attend on Friday night, May 7th.)
