BRITAIN EXPOSED!
Experience British music in all its glory! After a Medieval composer kick-off, our journey continues with Thomas Tallis and the gloriously ceremonial writing of George Frideric Handel. The Victorian Age witnessed a veritable British Musical Renaissance with the likes of Edward Elgar, Hubert Parry and Charles Stanford, and the 20th and 21st centuries have seen Ralph Vaughan Williams’ shoes ably filled by contemporary composers such as Richard Rodney Bennett and Jonathan Dove.
Blimey! Imagine having the opportunity to hear all of these composers on a single night! But hold on - even Q.E. II would realize that no musicological journey of Britain could ever be complete without a touch of Liverpool’s Fab Four, a soupçon of Gilbert and Sullivan and a quick rousing romp through that quintessential of British musical traditions known as The Proms. Rule Britannia indeed!
